"Mardi Gras Celebration" Featuring the Civilized Tribe Dixieland Band
The eighth annual Mardi Gras-themed event will feature its traditional UCO faculty entertainment specialists, but with a few new twists. This fundraising event is going bigger with complimentary New Orleans-inspired hors d oeuvres and drinks, Mardi Gras beads and masks, and a Dixieland band that comes second to none in the Oklahoma City metro. UCO s 5th Street Jazz Collective plays under the name UCO Civilized Tribe Dixieland band for this annual performance in honor of the original Civilized Tribe Dixieland Band that performed as a UCO jazz ensemble more than 20 years ago and featured Central alumni and faculty members. Members include trumpeter Lee Rucker, trombonist Kent Kidwell, D.M.A., clarinetist and saxophonist Brian Gorrell, pianist Dennis Borycki, banjo/guitarist Danny Vaughan, bassist Michael Geib, D.M., and drummer David Hardman. Tickets are $35 and include Creole-inspired hors d oeuvres, such as gumbo shooters and sausage balls, and a ticket for a New Orleans-inspired drink, such as a Hurricane. All proceeds from the evening benefit scholarships for the UCO School of Music and UCO College of Fine Arts and Design.
Time: 7:30pm
Price: $35
